Conventions of TV adverts

Image
Conventions of a TV advert: - Product placement - Jingle (recognisable music) - Slogan - Logo Advertising slots Broadcast time slots cost advertisers different amounts:a prime time slot will be more expensive than broadcasting in a slot during an afternoon.  The target demographic of the audience(social, economic, and cultural context)such as age, ethnicity, gender, location, economic status. The target psychographic of  the  audience (social, cultural context) How well known/established the product or brand is. The intended values, attitudes and beliefs of a brand. Conventions of Horror and Sci-fi

Typical features of the Horror genre. - the setting is typically in an eerie place and at usually at night - the lighting is usually  Chiaroscuro lighting and low key lighting. - props have a range but usually involve weapons - the costumes involve scary/gory outfits and quite often are old      and tattered.   - the makeup is gory and usually quite pale. SFX makeup. - the time periods can range depending on the type of horror but        they quite often link back to historical time periods.  - involves non-diegetic sound and an eerie soundtrack and foley        sound. - there can be a range of shots and angles. There is usually a close    up used to show a character's reaction. - there is usually a protagonist and an antagonist.  - the mood is usually quite low and the emotion it causes is often      fear. - gothic style iconography. Typical features of the Sci-fi genre....

Initial brief idea.

Name of channel SCREAMS VS SPACE Genre: (Horror/Sci-fi)  👽👻 Both, the horror aspect will be as dark as possible and will be shown through a dedicated horror fan but will be contrasted by a goofy/nerdy sci-fi fan. The horror aspect will bring a serious aspect to the advert but when the sci-fi fan is introduced in it, the advert will turn a bit more comedic. This would be done to almost mock the horror fan. There will be conventions of horror and sci-fi. Give an overview of your idea for your TV channel advertising campaign: In my advertising campaign, I am planning on having two different characters. The first will be a horror fan who is very serious when it comes to horror, they start off the advert by talking passionately about horror and its conventions. It will then cut to a nerdy sci-fi fan who questions them about horror and for example when the aliens will come in. The second advert could start off with the sci-fi fan talking about the conventions of his genre going i...

AS Lighting Practice Task

Image
If you are filming outside, the light changes dramatically. Big changes in natural lighting can impact continuity. Lighting indicates high or low quality, sets the mood, draws attention to your product and makes it look better and makes your actor look better.  3-Point Fill Lighting create a normal looking scene with soft shadows and average colours. Chiaroscuro lighting is characterised by harsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between different areas of the shot, such as a characters face. Can be used with colour, but also can be used in black and white for a different feel. Common in horrors, dramas and any other type of film where the atmosphere of the scene plays a vital role.     High key lighting uses harsh bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene, giving the scene a white-washed, clean look that does not have a shadow in frame. Low key lighting creates shadows and contrast between colours. It is used to create atmosphere and is about mys...

Continuity task

Image
For this task we were expected to demonstrate editing techniques such as match on action, cutaways, pace and observe rules of continuity. For my video we used the character forgetting something at home in order for them to run back up the drive from school. I used numerous camera angles in the task for example over the shoulder and close ups. Cutaways were used to remind the character of what they left at home and a long shot and over the shoulder shot was used when they were running back up the drive.

Class reality TV drama

In order to get more experience of filming and editing (due to the pandemic restrictions) we came up with and idea for a whole class drama. The plot, characters and filming was completed by the class. It gave us some practice of multi-camera filming, sequencing and editing for meaning and being creative when filming in a confined space which may be useful if the pandemic continues to restrict our film-making. We all completed our own individual edit.  With my edit I decided to focus on the class as a whole and the three individual main characters. I tried to highlight the difference between the way the teacher views the class compared to the way the class actually acts and how they view the school and the teacher. I tried to highlight the way that the students have no motivation for the actual learning. I wanted the overall impression to be that the teacher has no clue about the fact that his students actually do not do any work and have no respect for him even unlike in his ...
