 This is my media production blog where I will showcase the planning evidence for my AS production work. My brief this year is to create 4x15 second television adverts to promote a new horror and/or science fiction television channel.

 If you are filming outside, the light changes dramatically. Big changes in natural lighting can impact continuity. Lighting indicates high or low quality, sets the mood, draws attention to your product and makes it look better and makes your actor look better.  3-Point Fill Lighting create a normal looking scene with soft shadows and average colours. Chiaroscuro lighting is characterised by harsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between different areas of the shot, such as a characters face. Can be used with colour, but also can be used in black and white for a different feel. Common in horrors, dramas and any other type of film where the atmosphere of the scene plays a vital role.     High key lighting uses harsh bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene, giving the scene a white-washed, clean look that does not have a shadow in frame. Advertising Standards

  Advertising Standards Authority They respond to concerns and complaints from consumers and businesses and take action to ban ads which are misleading, harmful, offensive or irresponsible. As well as responding to complaints  to check they’re following the rules. They also conduct research  to test public opinion and identify where they need to take action to protect consumers .    A regulator is a body that is not part of the government but will follow government's guidance or laws. There is a regulator for TV and radio (Ofcom), for newspapers and magazines (IPSO). Each have different amounts of power. Sometimes they are there to deal with or investigate complaints from the public.   Our first editing practice task was to look at how cutaways can change the context of a shot and construct different meanings and representations. In mine I cut away to a shot of some flowers. I did this to try and create the impression that they have made the person in question happy because they have seen them.
