Continuity Editing
Continuity editing is the obvious change of something during an ongoing scene. It is essentially a magic trick, pacing and trajectory of the story. Trying to maintain the right and left relationship. This is to make it obvious where a person is looking, running or driving for example. If they are going somewhere (left to right) or coming back (right to left).
Match on Action - Refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action. Although the two shots may have been shot hours apart from each other, cutting on action gives the impression of continuous time when watching the edited film. It is a form of continuity editing.
180 Degree Rule - A basic guideline that states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationships to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line. The new shot, from the opposite side, is known as a reverse angle.๐๐
